Are you new to the Chamber? Take the opportunity to meet other new members and learn about Chamber programs and services at a quarterly orientation meeting, designed to help you get the most from your membership and jump-start your involvement.

Get Smart ... make connections at Business Book Club, a Worthington Libraries partnership

Join us for The Get Smart! Business Book Club,a Chamber partnership with Worthington Libraries.

Discussions about business books are held quarterly at varying Chamber-member businesses, offering professional education and networking opportunities to area business persons and library patrons. There is no charge to attend.  

 

Refreshments are provided by the Friends Foundation of Worthington Libraries and the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce. At many locations, beverages are also available for purchase.

 

The next Get Smart Book Discussion will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9,
at the office of Anthony Lordo, D.D.S, LLC, 1000 N. High St., Worthington.

 

 The session begins at 5:30
(with a half-hour networking period).  Book discussion is held from 6 to 7 p.m.

 

The quarterly book selection (on the topic of change) will be announced later this month.

Business After Hours (BAH) events are designed to give Worthington Chamber members the opportunity to network with other members in an informal setting (where they may make contacts different from those at a Business After Hours) and to learn more about Chamber member businesses. Attendance at BAH events is considered a privilege of membership.

Members may attend this event free of charge. Guests (spouses, friends, and referrals who are considering membership) are welcome at $20 per person. The guest fee is credited toward membership dues to those who join the organization. The fee is payable in advance or at the door by credit card, check or cash.
Tailgate for Charity unites several Chamber-member businesses in fundraiser for kids

 

Two of our chamber's most generous businesses, Outreach Promotional Solutions and Holiday Inn Columbus-Worthington, have joined forces to present a Tailgate for Charity event this weekend that benefits three local children's charities. Creators of the event Nevin and Sunita Bansal of Outreach Promotional Solutions have invited the Worthington Area and Dublin chambers of commerce to promote the value of chamber membership at information tables at the event, which will be held at Holiday Inn from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25.

DISCOVER CUBA! 

 

The Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce invites the public and Chamber members to "Discover Cuba."  

Join other members of the Chamber and the Worthington community from Jan. 17-24, 2014, on a Chamber-sponsored, guided tour of Cuba.

Through the unusual travel opportunity, Chamber and community members can gain a new perspective on Cuba's unique history, cuisine and culture through people-to-people cultural interactions and exchanges. Travelers will enjoy learning about Cuba's storied history from the Museum of the Revolution to Ernest Hemingway's home.

They will have opportunities to interact with local residents and businesses, visiting the home and studio of a famous artist as well as the San Jose Craft Market, where local artisans showcase their goods. Travelers also will visit the majestic countryside of the Vinales valley, where they will tour a cigar factory and tobacco farm.

The tour price is $3,699 per person (double occupancy) and includes round-trip airfare from Miami, first-class hotel accommodations, 16 meals, professional tour escort, baggage handling, Cuban travel visa, Cuban medical insurance, sightseeing and admission to all attractions per itinerary.

Keep your networking "on course" at popular Progressive Power Luncheon
 
Businesswomen of the Chamber can keep their networking skills "on course" while enjoying a delicious lunch at the annual Women's Business Network Progressive Power Lunch, scheduled for Sept. 17, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. at The Worthington Inn.

At each luncheon course -- salad, entrée and dessert -- attendees share business cards and short "commercials" with at least six other business women and enjoy roundtable conversation about your businesses.

After each course, participants rotate to another assigned table to make new connections. By the time lunch is over, each guest will have made at least 18 contacts. Bring a supply of business cards and information to share about your business. Include samples or product literature as desired.

Check-in and networking begin at 11:30 a.m. Please arrive by 11:45 to ensure seating at your first table assignment.



Cost: $27/Chamber members; $37/non-members (non-members prepay with credit card or check received by the registration deadline).

The luncheon is limited to 49 participants.

Join us at the annual Chamber Golf Outing Sept. 30 at Worthington Hills Country Club

The Chamber invites members and guests to network with other central Ohio golfers at Worthington Hills Golf and Country Club on Monday, Sept. 30, at the Chamber's annual Golf Outing.

Recognized as one of the best outings of its kind in central Ohio, the event is a great way to build relationships with a customer or client, reward a dedicated employee, or treat yourself to a day of golf while networking with other Chamber members.

The event has a scramble format. Registration begins at 10 a.m., and a shotgun start kicks off the event at 11 a.m. The registration fee includes 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch, picnic dinner and assorted beverages.



The number of golfers is limited to 130 players. Participants may register as singles, in pairs or as foursomes. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishing teams, and golfers will have a chance to win additional prizes through a door prize drawing and skill holes on the course.

There are a variety of sponsorship opportunities available. There are also opportunities to serve on the golf outing committee or volunteer during the event. You may donate an item or gift certificate for the event raffle and other prizes to make the event even more enjoyable for participants. Save the date! Market Day is on the horizon

Worthington's downtown streets will bustle with activity on Sept. 21 as the Chamber presents Old Worthington Market Day - Worthington's largest day-long festival - from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event takes place, rain or shine, on the streets of Downtown Worthington - primarily along High Street (SR 23), from SR 161 south to South Street, and on the Village Green. 

 

Market Day features a colorful display of artisan-crafted goods from jewelry, pottery and ceramics to beautiful paintings, decorative clothing and unique wood products. More than 200 exhibitors are expected to display their wares this year. Numerous community and school groups also participate, selling food items or handcrafted goods.

Other attractions on Market Day include the Friends of the Library book sale (this year on the southwest Village Green), Worthington Historical Society's flea market, farmers' market vendors, children's activities and performing groups.

Free shuttle buses are provided to the festival area from the parking lots at Thomas Worthington High School. There is no charge to attend.
