YPoW plans two great lunch conversation topics -- this Friday and on Aug. 9. Join us for bimonthly Lunch Bunch sessions!

 Young Professionals of Worthington (YPoW) invite you to lunch with a bunch of other young professionals ages 21-39, who are members of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce.
Our group offers opportunities for networking, social interaction, community service and philanthropy, and professional development.
The Lunch Bunch is an opportunity to learn about and discuss a topic of mutual interest or expertise from one of our members or an invited speaker.
What to bring: a "brown bag" lunch and beverage from home or your favorite fast food restaurant; your ideas; desire to meet other YPoW participants; and willingness to exchange ideas and business leads.
The Lunch Bunch convenes every other month on the second Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at varying Chamber-member locations.
 The June 14 presentation, to be held at the office of AAA Ohio Auto Club, 90 E. Wilson Bridge Road, is "Travel Trends and Tips from the Pros"
Explore with North America's largest leisure travel agency. Alison Mausser, sales manager at the Worthington AAA store, will be speaking on the benefits of using a travel agency in planning both escorted and fully independent vacations near and far. AAA can plan vacations driving close to home and throughout the world. Alison will be speaking on all types of vacations such as AAA Ohio Auto Club's top 10 driving destinations and travel around the world.
The deadline for registration is Thursday, June 13, at noon.
 The Aug. 9 presentation, to be held at the office of Insurance Agencies of Ohio, is "Buy or Rent? Home Buying Tips and Trends for Young Professionals.
Margot Campbell from Cam Taylor Realtors looks forward to speaking on the benefits of purchasing a home versus renting in today's market. As of April of this year, seven of 10 surveyed consumers from the National Association of Home Builders agree that "now is a good time to buy." U.S. rental rates are expected to climb by 4.1 percent in the next 12 months, and mortgage payments are expected to climb by only 0.7 percent. Owning a home is attractive to renters as well as move-up buyers because mortgage rates continue to remain at historically low levels. Something else to think about is that, for every 1 percentage point that interest rates rise (from today's rates), a purchaser's purchasing power declines by 11 percent.

Encourage others to participate in YPoW
|
Encourage your co-workers and friends to participate in Young Professionals of Worthington, a subgroup of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce.  Young professionals whose employers are Chamber-member companies pay a participation fee of $30 per year, renewable in the same month as their company's Chamber membership dues.
Young professionals who are interested in attending YPoW events as guests (including spouses and friends who may wish to accompany you to Chamber events), but whose companies are not Chamber members, may join YPoW at a fee of $99 per year. Their membership privileges will apply to YPoW events and programs only.
Year-round sponsors of YPoW, Chamber Sustaining Members and large companies whose owners would like to prepay membership for a large number of young professionals will be eligible for group discounts.
