Greetings!                              June 9, 2013

June is "bustin' out all over" with opportunities for Chamber networking, education and business exposure.

As the nation prepares for National Small Business Week (from June 17-23, presented by the U.S. Small Business Administration), our Chamber has a variety of activities planned to serve the needs and interests of our own small businesses.

At least six events in June offer prime connecting-building opportunities for Chamber members, including both a Business Before Hours (June 11 at Willow Brook) and a Business After Hours (June 25 at Farmers Citizen Bank), a ribbon-cutting (June 14, to welcome Not Your Daddy's Buzz Cuts), the combined chambers Business Expo on June 20 (and a workshop on preparing for business expos on June 11), and events for young professionals (June 14), women in business (June 18) and small office/home office-based businesses (June 27).

A Taste of Worthington June is also the time when the Chamber prepares for A Taste of Worthington, the summer food and family fun festival presented by the Chamber. Sponsorships and restaurant vendor applications are being accepted through June 25. Contact Kathryn@worthingtonchamber.org if you are interested. Click here to download information about sponsorships, or on this link to volunteer. Food vendors can download an application or register online at this link. Mark your calendar and plan to attend the event with your family, co-workers or neighbors on July 19 at OfficeScape Corporate Center, 350 W. Wilson Bridge Road.

See the details of these and other upcoming events below, and watch for additional details in ChamberLinks event reminder emails.

And, speaking of small businesses, be sure to stop by House Wine to congratulate the 2013 winner of the Chamber's Small Business Person of the Year Award, Donnie Austin, who was honored at a Chamber luncheon celebrating small business on May 23 at The Worthington Inn.  Highlights of the event are shown below.

We hope to see you at one of our events in June, and we wish you great Chamber connections!

What to bring: a "brown bag" lunch and beverage from home or your favorite fast food restaurant; your ideas; desire to meet other YPoW participants; and willingness to exchange ideas and business leads.

The Lunch Bunch will convene every other month on the second Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at varying Chamber-member locations.

The June 14 presentation, to be held at the office of AAA Ohio Auto Club, 90 E. Wilson Bridge Road, is:

WBN logo

Marley, a specially trained beagle, is the chief bedbug detector at Four Paws. In the photo, her behavior changes, signaling that she has detected bedbugs during an inspection.
Annie LaBarre, co-owner of Four Paws K-9 Detection, and Nancy Holderman of Varment Guard, will discuss the identification and treatment of bedbugs (and how to decrease your risks of bringing them into your office or home), along with some other household and office pests.

Don't miss this informative session, especially during peak travel season.

Cost: $20/Chamber members; $30/non-members. Support our scholarship fund by making announcements ($5/member; $10/guest) and participating in door prize drawings ($1/member/guest).
