Lunch and learn on Tuesday, Oct. 23 ... as you explore timely issues with other Chamber members and guests. Health Care Reform. Energy Regulation. School Finances. Each of these timely topics affects your business and your community. Enjoy networking with other members over a casual lunch as you discuss the topics in these presentations: Health Care Reform - What's Next? Tom Paplaczyk of Strategic Benefit Services, an industry expert with nearly 30 years of experience, will review the implementation timeline for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and discuss how it will affect businesses and health care consumers.
Light's On for Energy Cost-Savings Following a ruling by the Public Utilities Commission regarding competition with AEP energy rates, the light is back on for cost-saving Chamber member benefit programs that offer discounted electric and natural gas rates. Marty Vaughan, representing Strategic Energy Services/Volunteer Energy, will share background information and explain the new benefit for members of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce.
State of Our Schools - Finance Update Dr. Thomas Tucker, superintendent, and Jeff McCuen, treasurer, of Worthington Schools will offer an update on the current state of the district's finances and discuss the challenges ahead.
The Lunch and Learn, sponsored by Volunteer Energy, will be held in the board room at the Worthington Education Center, 200 E. Wilson Bridge Road. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. and will conclude at 1:15 p.m.
Cost: (includes a boxed lunch, handouts, and automatic entry into door prize drawings): $10/Chamber member; $20/non-member.
Lunch includes a submarine sandwich on whole-grain wheat bread (with a choice of meats and a veggie option); a bag of low-fat chips; fresh veggies; a cookie; and bottled water and assorted soft drinks. The subs include lettuce, tomato and cheese and are topped with Italian dressing.
With your registration, please specify the preferred type of sandwich: Turkey; Ham; Ham and Salami; Roast Beef; Pastrami; or Veggie.

Meet elected officials at Nov. 20 BAH at Holiday Inn
| Join us at the Chamber's November Business After Hours (BAH) to say "thanks" to elected officials and public servants serving local and regional government.
The event is scheduled on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Holiday Inn Columbus Worthington, 7007 N. High St., Worthington.
Pre-register to be eligible for door prizes before noon on Nov. 19. You will receive a preprinted name tag, automatic check-in and automatic inclusion in an extra door prize drawing. You will receive a confirmation e-mail if successfully registered.
Monthly Business After Hours (BAH) events are designed to give Worthington Chamber members the opportunity to network with other members in an informal setting and to learn more about Chamber member businesses. Attendance at BAH events is considered a privilege of membership.
Members and invited public officials (who have confirmed their registration in advance) may attend this event free of charge. Guests (spouses, friends, and referrals who are considering membership) are welcome at $20 per person. The guest fee is credited toward membership dues to those who join the organization. The fee is payable in advance or at the door by credit card, check or cash.

The Get Smart! Book Discussion Group, a partner program offered through the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce and Worthington Libraries, has chosen the title for its fourth quarter 2011
2session. The selection is "Work Happy: What Great Bosses Know" by Jill Geisler.
