Tickets are now available for this one day WES conference to celebrate National Women in Engineering Day on 23 June from HERE. Non-members can receive an early bird booking rate if they book before 30 April.

Girls into Engineering - Smallpeice Trust Residential Course

The Smallpeice Trust is an educational charity that will be running a residential course, 'Girls into Engineering', taking place at the University of Bristol, specifically for girls in Yr8/9 on 21-23 July this year.
The girls attending will be will be working with any one of these companies/organisations who are taking part in the course; NNL Airbus National Composite Centre University of Bristol Lloyd's Register Foundation.
Students will do one project and on day 3 they will also do a 2 hour workshop with Dyson. There will be a talk from one of our own ex- student's about her career and a talk at the dinner from Laura Howarth-Kirke who was the 2013 SET (Science Engineering and Technology) student of the year.

We are looking for mentors for the student winners of the Talent2030 engineering competition in the areas and subjects listed below.
The winners are girls who are still in school between the ages of 12 and 18.

Bursaries available for women engineers at UCL

Twenty six bursaries have been made available by UCL Engineering for under-represented groups to undertake Master's study in Engineering.
Support is also availablefor parents and carers to attend summer schools and the courses.

Engineers for Overseas Development Event

Engineers for Overseas Development (EFOD) North West will be building a grain store in rural Uganda this summer. They are hosting a summer ball on Friday 13 June at Manchester Conference Centre.
Engineers for Overseas Development (EFOD) is a Charitable Limited Liability company, founded in 2000 to enhance the experience of young construction professionals. EFOD challenges its members to undertake development projects amongst some of the poorest communities in rural Africa and provides them with an opportunity to broaden their skills and experience. Almost 50% of the young engineers going to Uganda this summer to manage the construction of the grainstore are women (7 of 16) and several of the EFOD North West group are STEM Ambassadors.

Project Manager Roles at WES

Two part-time Project Manager roles at the Women's Engineering Society are available: one to manage our Company Members, and one to manage a schools outreach activity called Magnificent Women. 7 hours per week (total - for both roles combined). Can be split into two jobs but would suit one applicant. �10 per hour. Office based but some home work possible. Based in Stevenage.

Women in Science Network Launch

The launch of our Women in Science Network on Tuesday 20 May
Starting at 10am the conference will showcase a range of work through case study and presentation from our women researchers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine and Maths (STEMM) at varying stages in their career and also feature a keynote address from TV presenter and UH alumnus Kate Bellingham.

The network will be open to all women in science and aims to support them in their career development, providing discussion forums, information networking and mentoring opportunities.
The conference will be held in the Lindop Building, University of Hertfordshire College lane Campus, Hatfield AL10 9AB. Starting at 10am and finishing at 3pm, lunch and refreshments will be served during the day.

Women in Energy Leadership and Communication Excellence Forum 2014

Women in Energy Leadership and Communication Excellence Forum, will be a major event running from the 20th till 22nd of May in JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
This event will be building on the success of last year's 'Women in Engineering Leadership Forum 2013' and a range of successful women leadership events which Liquid Learning has run around the Australasia region, the 'Women in Energy Leadership and Communication Excellence Forum 2014' will bring together senior women leaders and engineers from both public and private organisations, consultants as well as academic thought-leaders to share snapshots of results achieved and also remaining challenges in the role of a female engineering leader.

Engineering Competition for students aged 16-19

|
Young Crossrail have partnered with MyKindaCrowd to run an online competition to invite more girls aged 16-19 to consider careers in Engineering. The challenge will provoke students to think of creative ways to encourage the next generation of female engineers into industry.
The competition will culminate on National Women in Engineering Day, when 30 winners will be invited to Canada Square to take part in a programme of training, speed networking with successful engineers and an exclusive visit to a Crossrail site. In addition the five lucky winners will be awarded with e-mentoring sessions with Crossrail staff.

Data Driven Diversity Event

The Royal Academy of Engineering Diversity team invites you to an evening event, 'Data Driven Diversity', which will take place at the Academy on Tuesday 13 May 2014 between 6.30pm and 9.30pm.
We are staging this event in conjunction with BP Pride and Stonewall to explore the issues surrounding sexual orientation in relation to the engineering sector. We hope that it will prompt discussion, networking and action amongst representatives from all sectors across engineering.

Create Your Future

WISE have teamed up with Walsall College to bring you Create Your Future, a free interactive discussion workshop for girls, parents and teachers to meet young women who have chosen a career in engineering, find out what they actually do and why they love their jobs. Taking place on the 10th of May at Walsall College from 10:30am-1pm, girls age 13-18 can meet female engineers for a morning of myth-busting, discussion activities and discovering the different exciting pathways that engineering has to offer.
