Newest BONC Commissioner  

The Board of Neighborhood Commissioners (BONC) was established by the City Charter in 1999 as a policy-setting and oversight commission for the Neighborhood Councils and the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment.

 

The Commission is comprised of 7 Commissioners appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council to 5 year terms. The Commissioners are all from diverse backgrounds and geographic areas of the City of Los Angeles. The Commission holds regular public meetings the 1st Tuesday and 3rd Monday of each month and may also hold special meetings to conduct business.


Sunland-Tujunga resident and STNC Parent Representative Lydia Grant has been confirmed as the new North Valley Commissioner on the BONC.  To see the confirmation at City Council here: https://vimeo.com/77083375

Sunland-Tujunga Branding Initiative: Realizing Our Full Potential

Everyone and everything has a brand. We either decide what that brand is or we let others decide it for us. Allowing the latter is dangerous for small business and for communities. Branding isn't limited to big companies. Branding is important for small business and maybe even more important for communities. A strong brand can bring a wealth of opportunities for a community, helping it define itself, present its value, and become a magnet to draw others (people, businesses, economic investment, government funding, etc.). And while full-blown branding initiatives can be extensive, time-consuming and costly (check out the town of Hardeeville in South Carolina - their branding initiative is costing them $20,000), there are ways to begin branding a community that don't require

Car thieves are targeting 2004 and older Honda and Toyotas. If you have one of these cars, it is advised that you put a CLUB on the steering wheel. This is enough to make the thieves move on.

The STNC works to improve the quality of life in Sunland-Tujunga.  We are advisory to the City of Los Angeles City Departments, Mayor and City Council.  From time to time we have a vacancy on the board of directors.  If you can volunteer to participate in monthly board meetings, join a committee and/or volunteer as you can, please contact the STNC secretary at secretary@stnc.org.  Current open seats:   Region 1 and 3.
