WEST CHESTER AEROSPACE MANUFACTURING TAKES FLIGHT
Beginning with the Wright Brothers powered flight experiments, the Cincinnati-Dayton Region's recognition as the hub of aerospace innovation and manufacturing dates back over 100 years. The region now boasts the largest military aviation base in the United States as well as one of the world's largest aerospace engine manufacturers.
West Chester Township is strategically located in the heart of this aerospace region and West Chester companies feature more than 3,200 employees directly involved in innovating the next wave of aviation technology.
North Pointe at Union Centre in West Chester is the corporate headquarters of CFM International, a joint venture between GE and Snecma. With sales of over $50 billion in 2014, CFM is among the largest suppliers of jet engines in the world.
The aerospace industry is defined by innovation. This August, the GE Aviation Additive Development Center will open in West Chester and usher in a new era in aerospace manufacturing technology. Additive manufacturing, commonly referred to as 3-D printing, brings the potential of lighter materials, stronger components and faster manufacturing times. The GE Additive Development Center will be among the world's largest facilities devoted to this emerging technology.
In addition to CFM International and the GE Aviation Additive Development Center, West Chester boasts another five aerospace component manufacturers with more than 100 employees each. This conglomeration of skilled engineers and labor helps to fuel the region's aerospace growth.
In recognition of this history of aviation innovation, the U.S. Department of Commerce recognizes the region as the Southwest Ohio & Northern Kentucky Aerospace Region (SOAR). This designation gives preferential status on a number of federal grants, a point of contact within the federal government to help navigate grant opportunities, and the ability to brand the Greater Cincinnati/Dayton region as the center of U.S. Aerospace Manufacturing.
West Chester Township works with its partners at REDI Cincinnati to administer the SOAR program in our area. REDI Cincinnati has staff and resources available to help companies identify opportunities related to this designation.

CTL Aerospace, a full service, ISO-9002 registered, composite facility specializing in Original Equipment Manufacturing and Repair, announced it will add nearly 50 new jobs as part of an internal expansion. Dallas-based TopGolf International plans to build a three-level, 64,232 square-foot recreational entertainment facility in which players hit golf balls containing computer microchips that track each shot's accuracy and distance while awarding points for hitting targets on the outfield. The West Chester TopGolf complex will have 102 climate-controlled hitting bays, along with a full food and beverage menu, music, games, and hundreds of HDTVs.
