Letter from the Executive Director

Does something seem different? You might have noticed that ART21's new season marks a notable shift from the curatorial approaches of seasons past. Our signature program Art in the Twenty-First Century has shed its previous thematic groupings to instead feature artists by the unique and revealing relationships to the places where they live and work.
Why this new approach, you ask? Because we believe that in an increasingly digital world, your physical surroundings matter like never before. We also found that some of today's most innovative and compelling artists have expanded their practice beyond the studio, stretching into their surrounding communities to address both local and global issues. Watch us tell those stories, and follow the action as we introduce the 16 artists featured in the cities of Chicago, Los Angeles, Mexico City, and Vancouver.
