 | | Letter from the Executive Director | |
It's officially summer--time to take a walk in the park! For those of us sweating it out in the ART21 offices, that means visiting our neighborhood park--Madison Square Park--where we recently followed the making and installation of a sculpture by renowned ART21-featured artist, Martin Puryear. In Puryear's sculpture, called Big Bling, you won't find the representation of an obvious or known form. Instead, the towering work offers a panoply of potential readings which the artist sums up himself in this month's featured interview: "My work has a potential for evolution--for change and open-endedness--which, to me, feels resonant with what it is to live a life."Speaking of change and evolution, also be sure to watch our first-ever animated short featuring artist Bryan Zanisnik!
