Highlights from ART21 Education
Earlier in February, ART21 hosted its first education forum at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City. The two-day event featured exchanges, dialogues, and experiments between artists and educators from across contexts, including:
  • A discussion on education as a practice of freedom from the perspectives of an artist (Luis Camnitzer), classroom educator (Rebecca Belleville, ART21 Educators alumni), and museum educator (Sandra Jackson-Dumont, The Metropolitan Museum of Art);
  • A conversation between artist Mark Bradford and Eric Pryor (Executive Director, Center for Arts Education) on issues of race in art and education;
  • Recurring themes from artist LaToya Ruby Frazier and others, challenging participants to consider the educators' roles in relation to community and in light of social inequity.
Documentation from the weekend's events will be shared in the coming months.

ART21 at the National Art Education Association Annual Conference in New Orleans
Five teachers from the ART21 Educators program will co-present a Super Session--titled "Collaboration and Contemporary Art Education"--on Saturday, March 28, 11:00 a.m. at the New Orleans Convention Center.
