 Highlights from the ART21 Magazine

The "Future" issue of the ART21 Magazine features new interviews, photos, a playlist, and more.

In "It's Getting Complicated," photographer Eirik Johnson recounts his travels from northern Alaska to the Peruvian Amazon, observing that "the future is here already."

Chris Harper contributed a future-themed playlist--"Love On Other Planets--A Mixtape for an Uninhabitable World"--compiling songs that "evoke space (literal and figurative), longing, distance, and, in some cases, extraterrestrial themes."

Guest edited by Rachel Craft, the "Future" issue began June 2 and continues through August 29.

Writer-in-Residence
Oakland-based writer Ben Valentine continues his series on the future of technology in the arts by interviewing Simone C. Niquille, a graphic designer and researcher who "addresses important issues of our time, such as facial recognition, identity politics, and networked optics."
