Amid a demanding appearance and performance schedule, artist Jacolby Satterwhite works to finish his latest animation, Reifying Desire 6 (2014), in time for the 2014 Whitney Biennial.

The ART21 GIF factory was in full swing this past month, with photo sets featuring Kara Walker's latest project for Creative Time at the Domino Sugar Factory in Brooklyn, as well as James Turrell's 1999 site-specific installation at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

 Highlights from the ART21 Magazine 

This month, the ART21 Magazine continued the "Value" issue, with recent articles including: 
  • "Ten Artists on Value," a video roundup by Jonathan Munar, ART21 Director of Digital Media and Strategy;  
  • and Jane Jin Kaisen's "Reiterations of Dissent," a "Staff Pick" from Christiana Baik, ART21 Development Associate.

Writer-in-Residence
Boston-based writer Elizabeth Devlin is the "Value" issue writer-in-residence. In her second article, "Intangible Possessions," she surveys the landscape of digital media art. And in her final piece, "A Quiet Kind of Act," she profiles Boston-based community quilter Clara Wainwright.

Devlin's ART21 writing residency concludes on May 30. Next up is Ben Valentine, writer-in-residence for the summer issue, "Future."

accessART21 Access: Host or Attend a Screening

ART21 Access is a global campaign providing access to contemporary art and artists through hundreds of free public screenings and events. Organizations of all sizes are invited to screen any of ART21's films free of charge.

By the end of 2013, ART21 had confirmed over 300 partners across the globe, spread over six continents. That's approximately 3,000 screenings spanning 49 states and 50 countriesFind a screening event near you.

To participate in the Access '14 program, in conjunction with Season 7 of Art in the Twenty-First Century premiering this fall, register here

To date, we have a total of 45 screening partners in the U.S., as well as partners in Spain, Portugal, Pakistan, Mexico, India, Grenada, Greece, Colombia, Canada, Bolivia, Australia, and Argentina.
