 Highlights from the Art21 Magazine

In celebration of the 200th Exclusive episode, the Art21 Magazine published a three-part series of video playlists, in which colleagues and friends in the art world name their favorite Exclusive episodes and share what they love about them.

In an introduction written by associate producer Ian Forster, he discusses the origins as well as the future of the Exclusive series through which he hopes viewers might understand "the many different ways that great art is made."

 Writer-in-Residence
In February, British/Mexican artist Alinka Echeverrķa came aboard as the "Translation" issue writer-in-residence. Her second slide show features photographs of South Sudan's population and landscape following independence--a major tuning point in the country's history.

mikekelley Announcing the Art21 Book Club

The Art21 Book Club, a new initiative of the Art21 Magazine, invites avid readers to participate in semi-intimate conversations about fiction and nonfiction books relevant to themes of the Art21 Magazine or ideas tackled by our contributing writers. The Art21 Book Club is an offline space for dialogue that encourages laughter, discussion, and debate over beer, snacks, and a good book.

The Art21 Book Club will gather for the first time at CUE Art Foundation on Thursday, April 17, 7-8:30pm. We will discuss Lewis Hyde's classic text The Gift: Creativity and the Artist in the Modern World.

Brooklyn-based artist Heather Hart, whose participatory installations are models for exchange and generosity, will lead the discussion and facilitate a book swap among attendees.

Read more about this program in the Art21 Magazine. Email
magazine [at] art21 [dot] org to join the group. Space is limited.
