Make a gift to Art21 today | | We open this month's issue of Art21 News with a congratulatory message (and GIF) to artist Carrie Mae Weems who, earlier this week, was named as one of the 2013 MacArthur Fellows. The program recognized Weems for "transforming our understanding of social identity and visual imagery." Congratulations to the artist for this extraordinary achievement.
The 100 Artists celebration continued this past month with new videos featuring Bruce Nauman and Ellen Gallagher, as well as additional materials featuring Allan McCollum, Raymond Pettibon, and Richard Tuttle.
Finally, this month's issue does not include the regular highlights from the Art21 Blog. Why is that, you ask? We are preparing for something new in the coming week. Be sure to subscribe to our Special Announcements email list (via the "Update Profile" link in the footer of this email) to be among the first to find out.

Access 100 Artists: Host or Attend a Screening |
During the 100 Artists campaign, we want our materials in the hands of as many arts organizations and institutions as possible--as well as devoted Art21 News readers and recipients.
To date, Art21 has confirmed over 230 partners across the globe, spread over 6 continents. That is a total of nearly 980 screenings throughout 43 countries. Find a screening event near you on Art21.org.
Thank you to all of the Art21 partners and supporters for helping us reach almost 1,000 screenings during Access 100 Artists--we are nearly there.
This month, we welcome new partners in Iran and Costa Rica, and we recognize all YMCA organizations collaborating with Art21 during Y-Arts Week in early October. We would also like to put out a special call for Art21 followers to host screenings in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nevada, Minnesota, and Mississippi. This October is Arts & Humanities Month so now is the perfect time to host or attend an Art21 screening near you.
Art21 viewers abroad are invited to share the enthusiasm they have for Art21 artists and films with their communities by hosting screening events.
Visit Art21.org for more information on how to host or attend a free Access 100 Artists screening.
Current Access partners: Let us know how your screening goes by sharing photos, comments, and stories across social media using #Art21Access, or by sending them to access [AT] art21.org.

Art21 Educators, 2013-2014: Twelve New Participants |
Year 5 of Art21 Educators is off and running. The program's twelve new participants--hailing from Seattle, WA; Boyerstown, PA; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; Santa Fe, NM; and Baltimore, MD--met each other for the first time in New York City on July 7. The educators spent seven days with us looking at art, talking to artists, and sharing ideas.
Every month since July, the group has been exchanging video footage and meeting online--generating ideas for bringing artists into the art classroom, the science curriculum, literature circles, and staff meetings. The group's most recent online session focused on Trenton Doyle Hancock, which considered how an artist's voice can change how we look at their work--specifically, the artist's recent body of work as featured in an episode from Art21's Exclusive series, Trenton Doyle Hancock: Real Biography.
Art21 will put out a call for applications for Year 6 of the Art21 Educators in January 2014.
