Center Field | Pledging Artistic Friendship: "2 of a Kind" at LVL3
 From Our Columns
Inspired by year three of New York Close Up, the Art21 Blog takes the theme of networks as its focus during July and August. Here are some highlights from the past few weeks: Jacquelyn Gleisner of "New Kids on the Block" received a manicure from artist Breanna Trammell whose traveling nail salon is "creating a network of meaningful experiences"; Joe Fusaro of "Teaching with Contemporary Art" addressed the importance of community in an art educator's growth; Caroline Picard of "Center Field" visited 2 of a Kind, a group show in Chicago "indicative of an exciting, often invisible network of relationships...that facilitate artistic production"; and Jonathan Munar, Art21's Director of Digital Media and Strategy, spot lit Doug Aitken's forthcoming train project, Station to Station, and the online campaign that's "providing visitors with the opportunity to peek inside the mind of the artist..."

Blogger-in-Residence | Two Point Perspective: Akram Zaatari's "Letter to a Refusing Pilot"
 Blogger-in-Residence
On July 1, we welcomed curator, writer, and university professor Noah Simblist. Writing for the blog as he travels to Venice, Beruit, Tel Aviv, and Ramallah, Noah's posts "look at the ways that artists engage activist politics in an increasingly globalized art world." Most recently, he reported on Akram Zaatari's Venice Biennale installation, Letter to a Refusing Pilot, a coming together of "archive and allegory." Read all of Noah's posts on the Art21 Blog.
