Date: Wednesday, February 12, 2014 , 6:00-9:30 pm
Location: Centre for Social Innovation, 601 West 26th Street, Suite 325, NYC 10001 At this year's 4th Annual Food Almanac, FSNYC will bring together its members and supporters to enjoy local beer and wine, delicious seasonal hors d'oeuvres and a light winter supper and to hear from an esteemed group of panelists that represent a diversity of perspectives from across the food system.
As NYC ushers in a new administration for the first time in 12 years, panelists will share their thoughts on the gains made in food and farm policy during the past administration and call for what should be built upon, left behind, or introduced for the first time.
This year, Nevin Cohen, Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at The New School will moderate an esteemed panel, including: - Ray Figueroa-Reyes, President, NYC Community Gardening Coalition
- Mark Izeman, Director, New York Urban Program and Senior Attorney, Natural Resources Defense Council
- Diana Robinson, Campaign & Education Coordinator, Food Chain Workers Alliance
- Additional panelists to be confirmed, check back soon!

In December, FSNYC members gathered to participate in an engaged discussion about the economic impacts of recent and impending cuts to the Supplemental Assistance Nutrition Program (SNAP). Speakers included Kate MacKenzie (City Harvest), Aly Waddy (UFCW Local 1500), Bob Lewis (formerly of NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets), and Sergio Nolasco (Nolasco Farms).

Stand with the 47 Million:
A social movement against hunger
Recent cuts to SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) have impacted 47 million Americans, including nearly 2 million NYC residents, who struggle to put food on the table. These are people you see everyday. For 47 million of our friends, families and neighbors, hunger is now more of a reality than ever before. Congress is considering even more cuts that will push America over the Hunger Cliff.
Learn about Hunger Cliff's "Stand with the 47 Million" campaign and how you can participate.
