Program Description
Food waste has immense environmental, fiscal and societal costs. The urgency of this issue is behind a series of exciting new initiatives around the city, country and globe designed to address the problems associated with wasted food, including the recent announcement by Mayor Bloomberg of a citywide composting program. Join Food Systems Network NYC and The International Culinary Center to learn from experts working on innovations in this field.

Have you ever seen a bee's tongue? The beautiful cinematography in the film, More Than Honey, brings the audience to observe honeybees in both in their natural habitat and the world of industrialized honey. Director Markus Imhoof provides the whole picture about the life and death of honeybees, and illustrates the reciprocal relationship between humans and their environment.

According to the American Farmland Trust, less than one-fifth of the land in the United States is highly productive agricultural land, and we are losing it at an alarming rate. The nonprofit organization Scenic Hudson has been preserving working farmland in the Hudson Valley for 20 years.

Report Published:Hudson Valley Food Hubs Initiative
Are food hubs needed to support and strengthen sustainable agriculture and a regional food value chain in the Hudson Valley? Which food hub features could most benefit Hudson Valley farms and communities? Who are the potential partners for food hub development in the Hudson Valley? An initiative of the Local Economies Project, the report answers these questions.

FSNYC's Policy Subcommittee has compiled the first update to FSNYC's Recipe for the Future of Food in NYC based on feedback gathered from attendees of the April 24th, 2013 FSNYC Open Networking Meeting ONM.

Food Systems Network NYC (FSNYC) is soliciting proposals from qualified strategic planning consultants for the preparation of a three-year strategic planning update. We are seeking consultants that have experience with grassroots membership organizations, a basic knowledge of food systems issues, and some familiarity with the food systems landscape in NYC.
