Cheever on making fast boards
I like to open up my pieces light. For most people a New Year means new hope, resolutions and a change for the better.
I hope my New Year has some World Cup, X Games and Olympic Hardware involved. I guess January 1st is just another day though.
I am off to Andorra soon for the next two races which are 2 of the final three Olympic Qualifiers for the year.
Eliminating some unnecessary factors is what I am doing. Getting healthy is first and foremost. Next is making sure my boards are fast so that isn't a question in the next races. I have been thermo bagging all of the race decks to make sure they are greasy.
Tokos NF Hot box does the trick. After a few sessions of that I made a loose race call and dumped some HF on the bases and gave those the deep soak in the T-Bag.
I look at it this way... Even if I make my boards 1% fast, that is usually the difference between qualifying with bib 32 and 16. If the boards are 2% faster chances are I am looking at a top 10 time. If they are 3% faster. Well I'll have lane choice all day for when it really counts.
