Greetings!

Please excuse our delayed email this month. First I was having fun in the rain and then we had technical difficulties. That was not nearly so much fun!

It was so much more fun to be outside soaking up the rain than working in the office! Wasn't that downpour just what we all (and our plants) needed?

Now that we have had some damp earth to play in we'll all want to be out there planting. But have you noticed that the more you think you know about gardening with natives the more there is to learn?

There are plenty of opportunities to learn more:North County residents should save the date for Native Gardening seminars with Teresa Everett.

Follow our FaceBook postings for details. Teresa is an accomplished native plant gardener and has a wealth of information and passion for the wildlife who will inhabit a well-planned native plant landscape.

More dates and locations for future seminars will be on FaceBook and in upcoming newsletters.

Your bi-annual treat of visiting native plant gardens is coming up! See below for details of the an Diego 'Blooming Consciousness' native Garden Tour, March 29-30.

PLANT OF THE MONTH

Salvia apiana
White Sage

This iconic California White Sage, beloved in our chaparral, has silver leaves and soft white flowers. It can be from 3 ft' to 8 ft' in height and spreads to about 6 ft' in width. The flowers are arranged on long, pole-like stems and provide a great sense of place and a distinctive California aroma. This versatile plant is a great favorite of gardeners as well as bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies. The flowers and leaves are important to indigenous tribes in various ceremonies.

Every purchase of our "Plant of the Month" at our retail nursery partners will generate a $0.50 donation to PLANT WITH PURPOSE to help villages in third world economies restore farms, plant trees and create local jobs.
