Living History Farms has wrapped up the general season for 2015, but we look forward to a bounty of enriching programs this fall and winter.
Bring your family for our open house Christmas celebration! Kids will enjoy spending winter break at a hands-on day camp exploring Living History Farms' historic sites, and adults will delight in sampling local food and beverages during our Cabin Fever series. Reserve your place at a Historic Dinner, or cultivate your own wood-stove cooking skills in an Adult Education class this winter.
Living History Farms Family Christmas
Saturday, December 5
3-7pm

Join us for a holiday open house filled with Christmas cheer! Bundle up for a horse-drawn wagon ride to visit the festive Flynn Mansion. Enjoy an old-fashioned holiday social with dance music by the Barn Owl Band in the Church of the Land. Kids will enjoy printing their own holiday greeting cards, decorating cookies, making crafts, and visiting Santa Claus! Adults can shop for unique gifts in the MarketPlace Museum Store (open noon-8pm).

Winter Break Camp
December 28-31

Spend part of your winter break at a Living History Farms Day Camp! Explore what life was like for pioneers or Victorians, and experience how people celebrated holidays in the past, as you visit historic sites and do hands-on activities. Choose from 1 day or 4 day camps for 2nd-5th graders, or a 1 day camp for the whole family!

Historic Dinners
Now-April

Savor a meal prepared with traditional recipes, served in one of Living History Farms' many historic homes. Play parlor games and dine in 1875 at the Victorian Tangen Home, take a horse-drawn wagon ride and share a hearty meal at the 1900 Farm, explore the elegant serving culture of the Victorians with a 9-course meal at the Flynn Mansion, or gather your friends for a Flynn Mansion tea service.

Cabin Fever Event Series
January-April

Come graze with us, celebrating Iowa's rich culinary bounty with unique monthly tastings in our Visitor Center. Gather your friends and explore local food and beverage specialties. These showcases benefit Living History Farms.

Adult & Family Education
January - March

Register starting December 10 for classes at Living History Farms. Explore classes in blacksmithing, cooking on a wood stove, using a spinning wheel, and more. Classes are presented through a partnership with Des Moines Schools' Community Education, and taught by Living History Farms staff at one of our many historic sites.
