Living History Farms to host "Fit as a Farmer" walk for Healthiest State Initiative
Wednesday, October 7
7:30am

Since 2011, hundreds of thousands of Iowans have taken part in the annual Healthiest State Walk. We've taken great steps together as Iowans to promote out state's well-being, but there is much more work to be done.

On October 7, thousands will again support Iowa's efforts to become a healthier state. This year, the goal is to have at least one walk in each of Iowa's 99 counties - and hopefully more! We are pleased to announce that this statewide effort will include Living History Farms.

This year, the Healthiest State Walk falls during National Fire Prevention Week, and invites all to "Walk at the Whistle." Schools and businesses are encouraged to hold fire drills in coordination with 1K walks to promote fire safety as well as general healthy living. The Urbandale Fire Department will be on hand to share tips with us on fire safety.

Living History Farms invites employees, volunteers, and the general public to join us in walking 1K at 7:30am on Wednesday, October 7. Though it will only take about 12 minutes, it's part of something much bigger.

Visit http://www.iowahealthieststate.com/walk/?w=HX5BVE3 to join our walk, and then gather at the museum's Visitor Center at 7:30am on October 7 to begin. Together we can do something great for ourselves and for Iowans across the state.
