Cabin Fever Event Series
Spirits and Sweets - Saturday, February 8, 3-6pm

Dare to pair one of a kind mini-tini's mixed by Iowa artisan distillers with
bite sized sweets and savory items created by local eateries. Visit with distillers
about the process of making spirits with Iowa corn. 
 
Taste samples from event partners: Broadbent Distillery, Cedar Ridge Winery & Distillery, Dehner Distillery, Gateway Market, Iowa Distilling Company, ROGUEsweets, 
Sipp'n Sweet Corn Whiskey, 
Sweet Binney's, Vom Fass, and Werner Distilling, among others.

Take a seat in the elegant Flynn dining room and allow yourself to be waited on by servants in proper 1870s period clothing. Our dinner host will share stories of Des Moines society and Victorian entertaining as guests enjoy nine food courses presented in 19th century style. Taste some of the unique staples of the Victorian meal, such as Bacon-Wrapped Oysters, and Carrot Soup a la Crecy, one of Queen Victoria's favorite dishes. $75/person.

Indulge your inner Victorian with an elegant three course tea service in the historic Flynn Mansion at Living History Farms. Wear your hat and gloves and share tea traditions with Living History Farms' interpreters wearing 1870s Victorian period dress. Guests will enjoy a chicken vegetable soup, tea sandwiches, scones, traditional cakes and sweets, all served with hot tea. $30/person.  

 

 

Living History Farms is a non-profit, historical, educational foundation located at 11121 Hickman Road, Urbandale, Iowa.
