On July 30, the Iowa Bankers Association (IBA) celebrated its upcoming 126th anniversary by presenting a $1,000 check to Living History Farms to help with roof repairs on the historical bank building, Walnut Hill Bank. Walnut Hill Bank has been a landmark in the 1875 town of Walnut Hill since the Farms' founding in 1970.

"We are excited to take part in the preservation of Living History Farms - and to help support the work they do to share Iowa's significant agricultural and rural history. It's such a fitting way to celebrate our association's own anniversary. Iowa banks also have a long history serving the same agricultural and rural communities that Living History Farms so well represents, "said Lori Ristau, IBA vice president of marketing and communications.

Living History Farms in Urbandale represents 300 years of history, exhibiting the significance of agriculture in the development of America. The attraction educates young and old through interactive models of historical and modern farming. Living History Farms strives for educational enrichment within the Iowa community with the overarching goal of helping the community understand Iowa values. Those values of honesty, hard work and community service match IBA's own values and made Living History Farms a natural organization to support.

This year marks IBA's 126th year anniversary. Established July 29, 1887, by a group Iowa bankers at a meeting in downtown Des Moines, the IBA became the fourth state banking association formed in the United States. Since its inception, the IBA has been committed to helping its member Iowa banks serve their communities. Today, headquartered in Johnston, Iowa, only a few miles from Living History Farms, the IBA represents 342 banks and savings institutions.
