Phat & Freestyle - This Sunday, March 10!
 
This Sunday, the newest AMH Anchorage Cup event - Phat & Freestyle. A special duathlon for those of you that love to Nordic ski and ride a fat tire bike! Sunday, March 10 will be the First Annual Phat & Freestyle Duathlon.
Skiing on a bike
 
  • 10am Registration, Biathlon Range Building
  • 12 noon START, 10km ski (mass start)  
  • Start, transition and finish will be in the biathlon Range 
  • 10km ride will be on multi-use and single track trails  
  • Participate either solo (both legs, ski AND bike) or with a partner (one leg, ski OR bike).

Racers boots

End your ski season with a BANG (and waffles)  
SKAN 24, Sat-Sun, March 23-24 

Not only the last race of the season, but also the most fun!
  • solo, duo, 4- or 8-person teams
  • 6-hour, 12-hour or 24-hour race lengths
  • 6-hour race for the youngsters (ages 6-14, 4-person teams)
  • 6-hour night owl race for those that want to ski at night only   
SKAN isn't just about skiing for a ridiculously long time... it's about hanging out with friends, family and fellow competitors, it's about camaraderie and competition, testing the limits of your body (and mind), having a whole ton of fun eating BBQ & waffles, winning raffle prizes (raffle every three hours on the hour, all night long!), hanging out in the warming tents or out by the burn barrel, and enjoying fabulous springtime skiing!

All races start Saturday at noon and end after 6, 12 or 24 hours. The 6-hour night owl race starts at midnight and ends 6am Sunday morning.

King of the Range Competition
  • Biathletes pair off to find the best shot. Skiers advance until there is only one left standing - King of the Range!
  • Sunday, March 24, register at the Range before 2:15pm
  • Bring a baked good for the prize basket!

Congratulations to the US Ski Team & Dr. Schumacher!
 
GREGORY L. SCHUMACHER, MD with Anchorage Fracture & Orthopedic Clinic, continues his service as a U.S. Ski Team (USST) physician and will travel abroad with the U.S. Nordic National Team during the 2013 World Cup season. Dr. Schumacher's role is to provide the highest level of medical care and assistance to the elite athletes and staff members of the USST. He has been involved with the U.S. Ski Team for three years and serves as part of a pool of physicians from around the country. Dr. Schumacher will spend nearly two weeks in Davos, Switzerland with the American skiers who are preparing for the World Championships that began on February 20 in Val di Fiemme, Italy.
