Volunteer Voice
Thanks to everyone who has supported our recent events! In early September, crew members traveled to the Eastern Shore of Maryland for Challenge Walk MS: Philadelphia Freedom Pass. They won the 'Best Rest Stop' award for their festive Philly-themed stop (pictured right)!

A few weeks later, more than 1,000 of you came together to support the Bike MS: City to Shore Ride. Thanks for helping make it one of the most successful events in its 33 year history!

Check out our current volunteer opportunities below. For more information and to sign up, please contact me at Joy.McManus@nmss.org.

We hope to see you soon!

Rain is the daughter of the late comedian Richard Pryor. She wears many hats (actress, singer, writer, producer and comedian), but perhaps the one closest to her heart is educator and advocate for MS. She is determined to find a cure for MS after her father lived with the disease for nearly 30 years.

Walk MS

We're getting ready for Walk MS 2014 on April 27, May 3 and May 4. Registration will open in November. We're looking for volunteers to help us with office projects and spreading the word to make this year's event the best ever!

  • Help prepare materials in our office in Center City Philadelphia beginning Dec. 10. Whether you have an hour or a few days free, your help is greatly appreciated!

  • Request promotional materials to encourage your friends, family members, colleagues and others to participate in Walk MS at one of 14 sites across the area. Materials will be available in December. Let us know if you would like us to mail you materials or have them ready to pick up in our office.

  • Get involved at your local Walk site. Contact Melissa Hersh to find out how you can help out in the lead up to the event.

Interns

We're currently accepting applications for our Spring internship program. If you or someone you know is interested, click here for a list of job descriptions. The deadline to apply is Oct. 30.

Peer Mentors

We're currently developing a new program to match people who are newly diagnosed with MS to trained peer mentors. Mentors will provide emotional support and coping skills that only someone who has lived with MS can offer. You must have at least 3 years of experience with an MS diagnosis and the availability to attend training sessions in the Philadelphia area. For more information, contact Pat Thieringer
