Julie King, the Conservancy's director of Conservation and Wildlife Management, recently was visited by wildlife photographer Chris Weston and cameraman John Beck. The British journalists documented the success of the Catalina Island fox's recovery from a near catastrophic outbreak of canine distemper. In this unedited audio clip, King explains that 50 foxes are fitted with radio collars.

SYMPOSIUM DOMINATED BY CATALINA PAPERS

Symposium posterBy Linda Farley

The field work of the Catalina Island Conservancy's biologists was never before showcased as thoroughly as it was at the 8th California Island Symposium in October. Twenty papers based on Catalina research, most of it by the Conservancy, spotlighted cutting-edge studies on foxes, bison, seabirds, plants and fundraising initiatives.
