NORTH BERM ACCESS & RENOVATION UPDATE FAQs

IS THERE SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE ALONG PELICAN BAY BOULEVARD?

Due to construction on Pelican Bay Boulevard during Collier County's repaving project there will be no shuttle bus service.  However, the Foundation will be providing alternative tram service along the north berm - Station 4 (Commons) to Station 8 (North Parking Lot).

 

WHEN DOES TRAM SERVICE START ALONG THE NORTH BERM?

Tram service will begin on Friday,October 31, 2014 and will run daily from 11AM to 6PM.

 

WILL THERE BE ACCESS TO THE NORTH BEACH?

Areas in and around the construction of Marker 36 are still considered hazardous areas.  There will be no boardwalk access or pedestrian access between Station 5 and Station 6 until the completion of the new restaurant.  Therefore, there will also be no access to the north beach.

 

ARE THERE SECTIONS OF THE NORTH BERM THAT WILL BE CLOSED?  WHAT ARE THE IMPORTANT DETAILS MEMBERS NEED TO KNOW ABOUT EACH SECTION OF THE NORTH BERM?

 

TO and FROM: 

Station 4 (Commons) and Station 5 (Marker 36 Parking Lot)

  • Trams will be used to transverse this section 
  • Cyclists and all types of pedestrian traffic will be permitted

TO and FROM: 

Station 5 (Marker 36 Parking Lot) to Station 6 (Beach Walk)

  • ONLY Tram Service will be used to transverse this section
  • NO cyclists or any type of pedestrian traffic permitted
  •  Please note that there is construction activity in this designated area and security will be present to monitor safe travel for trams
  • If members live in an association between Station 5 and Station 6, there will be no point of entry from the back gates. 
  • Half of Marker 36 Parking Lot will be available to members.  The other half is designated to construction vehicles.

TO and FROM: 

Station 6 (Beach Walk) to Station 8 (North Parking Lot)

  • Trams will be used to transverse this section
  • Cyclists and all types of pedestrian traffic will be permitted 
  • North Parking Lot available to members

 

WHEN IS MARKER 36 EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED?

Marker 36 is still on target for mid-December.

 

ARE THERE ANY PROVISIONS MADE FOR THANKSGIVING PLANS?

Due to Marker 36 being under construction during this time, Thanksgiving dinner service will be expanded and held at two separate venues. (Please remember to make reservations with your preferred designated venue.)

The Sandbar is serving their traditional Thanksgiving fare.  The restaurant is taking reservations for Thanksgiving Day from 12-8PM.  Please call 239-597-2781.

 

Thanksgiving Dinner is also being provided at the Community Center this year.  This event will be catered by CaterMasters with live entertainment from 12-3:30PM.  For reservations, please call 239-260-8998.

SUMMIT BROADBAND UPDATE

At this point in the transition to Summit Broadband, all residents who have already made (or who plan to make) the switch to Summit are requested to take action.


 

  • Residents who believe they have scheduled their installation are requested to contact Summit at (239) 529-1500 to confirm the appointment date and time as soon as possible.
  • Residents who have signed up for Summit's services but not yet scheduled their installations should contact the Pelican Bay hotline at (239) 529-1500 or e-mail PelicanBay@summit-broadband.com as soon as possible.
  •  Members who have completed their in-home installations are encouraged to share their experience - good or bad - with the Pelican Bay Foundation in order to expedite any follow-up actions that might be required. These residents can use connect@pelicanbay.org. Foundation Community Liaison for Summit Broadband Barbara Johnston is also available to assist with post-installation matters specifically. She can be reached at bjohnston@pelicanbay.org.
As always, gratitude is expressed for the community's cooperation during the installation process. The Foundation will continue to monitor Summit's progress closely in the upcoming weeks.

Don't forget! The Annual Toy Drive is just around the corner!

 

The Toy Drive Annual Kickoff will be held at The Glenview on Wednesday, November 5 at 9am.  During the kickoff, information packets for Neighborhood Representatives will be available.  There will be time for questions and answers, and light refreshments will be provided.

 

Collection boxes may be picked up following the morning meeting in the rear of the Community Center Parking Lot.

Please remember that shoes, cover-ups and member cards are required for service at restaurants and retail venues.  Please also note that Pelican Bay is a smoke-free campus.
