The Governor also sited that Wisconsin's income tax revenues from NBA players are projected to grow to more than $400 million over the next 20 years. This is due to a newly negotiated rights deals between the NBA and broadcasting companies. For the funding proposal to move forward, both the Milwaukee Common Council and Milwaukee County Board must approve their portion of the funding.

Dr. Vicki Martin, president of Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), spoke to MMAC's Council of Small Business Executives (COSBE) last Thursday about her efforts to produce more globally competitive graduates for the Milwaukee region.
With more than 40,000 students enrolled, MATC is Wisconsin's only majority-minority higher education institution. Many of its students are from low-income households, creating some unique challenges for the school. Martin focused her remarks on key initiatives that address the gap between graduates' skills and the needs of employers.

Between 2010-2020, 51% of job openings in Wisconsin will be middle-skill - defined as requiring education beyond high school, but not a four-year degree. And according to the National Skills Coalition, these jobs make up the largest part of the U.S. -- and Wisconsin's -- labor market. >>READ MORE

Marquette University asks public to engage on cultural and entertainment asset discussion
Marquette Law School and the Public Policy Forum launched an interactive website that encourages citizens to set their own cultural and entertainment priorities for Milwaukee - then decide how to pay for them. Users may then share their customized list of priorities and solutions within their social networks. The site can be accessed at simulation.law.marquette.edu
