"Camp Cy: A Statewide Adventure" takes place August 13-23 at the Iowa State Fair in the Varied Industries Building (open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.) Under cardinal and gold tent tops, Iowa State University will feature an outdoor setting for a Cyclone version of camp.

In partnership with ISU Extension and Outreach, Iowa State's presence in all 99 counties will be showcased at this year's exhibit featuring interactive stations that demonstrate ways Iowa State is helping Iowans throughout the state. Fairgoers can ride a virtual roller coaster, play in a stream, go on a bug hunt, save monarch butterflies, and download the app to locate their favorite state fair foods.

Football posters and temporary tattoos will be available, and daily prize drawings will be awarded. Cyclone athletics trophies and four of the university-owned CyclONE City statues will provide photo opportunities for fans. Expect guest appearances by Cy, Iowa State coaches and athletes, and retired NASA astronaut and Iowa State graduate Clayton Anderson throughout the fair.

4-H Youth Development is headquartered at Iowa State University and available through ISU Extension and Outreach offices in all Iowa counties. Thousands of statewide youth will participate in the fair with 4-H exhibits, presentations and competitions. An estimated 2,800 4-Hers will bring 3,900 projects and performances to be judged in the 4-H Exhibits Building. Another 2,000 youth will show a combined 6,000 entries -- livestock animals and horticulture -- in the agricultural buildings.
