New
Alliance for Iowa State
-Make Your Voice Heard-

Iowa State University has again been named a Military Friendly School by Victory Media and one of Military Times' 2015 Best Colleges for Veterans. The designations result from Iowa State's many resources and activities that strengthen the lives of veterans and military service members on campus.

The ISU Veterans Center serves 745 veterans, family members and others receiving military education benefits to successfully transition to college. The center's staff answer questions, connect veterans to other vets with shared experiences, and organize programs to ensure they are on a path to educational success. Weekly Thursday night dinners allow veterans to meet one another along with community members.

A strong supporter of Governor Terry Branstad's Home Base Iowa initiative to create opportunities for veterans, Iowa State University offers vets several forms of financial assistance including in-state tuition and some deferred billing options.

All of these services are a way for the Iowa State community to thank veterans for their service to America.

Iowa State also is home to three ROTC (Reserve Officers Training Corps) units, which educate and train future military leaders.  Military Science (Army), Naval Science/Marine Corps and Air Force Aerospace Studies are academic departments in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Did you know? In a Veterans Day ceremony held yesterday, Iowa State honored three former students who died in military action. Their names and the names of all other Iowa Staters who died in battle - from World War I to Iraq and Afghanistan - are displayed on the walls of the Memorial Union's Gold Star Hall.
