The world faces extraordinary challenges in the production and security of food, feed, fiber and fuel. The Cultivation Corridor is leading the way to solve this problem by leveraging advanced science and agricultural expertise to feed and fuel the world.
The Cultivation Corridor is a part of the larger Capital Crossroads Campaign, a five-year regional plan with nearly 5,000 community members and business leaders, 500 of whom have volunteered to lead the plan to achieve short-term and long-term economic growth in central Iowa. While the effort will cover much of central Iowa and the state, the Cultivation Corridor will be based in Ames at the Iowa State University Research Park.
The primary goals of the Cultivation Corridor are:
- Attract and retain top quality talent in the agbioscience sector throughout the region
- Maximize the impact of localized economic development efforts and expand job and wealth creation in the agbioscience sector
- Create a positive ripple effect across Iowa which captures and promotes its assets
With the Research Park's public and private partners, the region is cultivating innovation, enhancing environmental sustainability and accelerating business growth. Improvements in genetics, technology and production practices created here are helping to transform agriculture in ways considered unimaginable only a generation ago.
