The 2013 school year is underway and the Alliance for Iowa State will continue to update you throughout the year with the latest news from the state legislature and other relevant topics from around campus.
Since the re-launch of the Alliance for Iowa State in January, Alliance for Iowa State members have been integral in communicating our message to the Iowa General Assembly. In fact, with your active support, the Iowa General Assembly appropriated funding levels to Iowa State that resulted in a freeze in tuition for the first time in over 30 years for undergraduate resident students for the current academic year!
In addition to funding the tuition freeze, other accomplishments reached this summer include:
- Legislative investments for growth and development of the ISU Research Park
- Strategic investments from the state to become a national leader in the emerging bioeconomy
- Serving K-12 students by hosting design workshops, Iowa State Engineering Kids Camps and the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference
- Governor Branstad's visit to the College of Veterinary Medicine to announce 2013 as the "Year of the Veterinarian" in Iowa
The Alliance for Iowa State's mission is to advocate Iowa State University throughout Iowa while focusing its advocacy on state legislators and public policy makers. The goal is to engage alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff and friends and earn their support for the educational, research and economic development capabilities of Iowa State.
Iowa State's Mission:
Create, share, and apply knowledge to make
Iowa and the world a better place.
