Starhawk
Starhawk is one of the most respected voices in modern earth-based spirituality. She is also well-known as a global justice activist and organizer, whose work and writings have inspired many to action. An author of twelve books, a permaculture designer, group organizer and consultant, Starhawk's new book on group dynamics is just out: The Empowerment Manual: A Guide for Collaborative Groups. Her twelve books include The Spiral Dance, The Fifth Sacred Thing, Truth or Dare, The Earth Path, and for children, The Last Wild Witch. See www.starhawk.org. Like us today, after a century of devastating wars, genocide, holocausts, and the breakdown of the immune systems of both the individual body and the body politic, many people today are saying, "What would it be like to have a planetary society? What would it be like to live in the ultimate Longhouse, a world in which cultures are encouraged and empowered and, at the same time, linked in a multicultural, planetary entity?

Speak Up and Speak Out
As Dr. Sharma stated, India has the highest maternal mortality rate in the world. Fact: 90% of abandoned children in India are girls who were discarded by their parents who did not want daughters. There are about 10 million abandoned girls in India. The recent PBS documentary called "Half the Sky" tells the inspiring stories of many of these girls and women.

I was born into circleBy Becky Lellek "I was born into circle. I grew up the fifth of seven children in my family and every night for as long as I can remember we gathered around the table for dinner to share and listen to one another. Later would come women circles, poetry circles, painting circles. Today I am gathering in circle around Jean Houston and Peggy Rubin's Manual for the Peacemaker. The soup is prepared, the cornbread soon to be. My drum is packed, along with a candle and sage. We will start with a poem and end with a song. In between will be relationship at its best. We will take turns, we will witness to the beauty and brilliance in one another, appreciating what each one brings that is uniquely theirs to give. We will celebrate life."
