Commemorations
This Week
Saturday, April 23
Toyohiko Kagawa
renewer of society, died 1960
Born in Kobe, Japan, Kagawa was orphaned as a young child. Later, when he became Christian, he was disowned by the rest of his family. Wishing to bring Christian principles into society, he worked among poor people, established schools and hospitals, and worked for peace.

Monday, April 25
Mark, Evangelist
He was not numbered among the twelve apostles, yet Mark was probably a member of the early church community. The gospel that bears his name is the shortest and most direct, and many scholars think it was the first to be written.

Happy Birthday, St. John!

St. John is 58 years old this week!
(April 27)
Passover Seder
TONIGHT! April 22 ~ 6:30 pm
This event will take place in the narthex as there is something else going on in the MPR this evening.

This event has proven to be VERY popular!  If you would like to attend but have not signed up, please call Pr. Bill and let him know.

Re-Enroll Now!

During the month of April all members who have designated their reward dollars to St. John are required to re-enroll in order for us to continue to receive rewards. So if in the past you have linked your Kroger Plus Card to St. John, you will have to do so again for St. John to receive a Kroger Community Award check. St. John's number is 82660.  If you haven't, it's easy.  Click here to get started.
Our reward check received in March was for $39.63.

Saturday, April 30

9:30 am - 12:00 noon

In recent months, more than a few new friends have begun worshipping regularly with us. If you are among them, we would like to invite you to attend this New Members Class, where you will have an opportunity to find out more about St. John and the Lutheran tradition. You will have an opportunity to meet other new faces, as well as some who have been around longer, to ask questions, share experiences of your faith journey that has brought you to St. John, and eat bagels and drink coffee. Children are welcome too.

New members will be received on Sunday, May 8, at the 11:00 am service. However, you are invited and encouraged to attend the New Members Class, even if you do not wish to commit to membership at this time.

Contact Pr. Bill if you have questions.

Small Groups are Continuing!
The groups are meeting every other week through the middle/end of June. There is still time for you to participate in one of the groups. We have groups meeting on Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 7pm and Saturday mornings. (For Saturday morning group place and time contact Pam Shapiro at 248-797-1504.) We are trying to form a Sunday morning group that meets after the 11am service: a great opportunity if you are interested! The groups will meet next the week of April 25-30.

Please contact Kevin O'Brien [email protected] Janice Locke [email protected] if you have an interest in trying out this new ministry - you are always welcome and there is an open seat for you in any of the groups.
