Name of Jesus

By Jewish law, every baby boy was circumcised and named on the eighth day of life, so on the eighth day of Christmas the church celebrates this event in Jesus' life. The keeping of the covenant as well as Jesus' name are signs of God's salvation given to us through Him.

Saturday, January 2
J. K. Wilhelm Loehe
Renewer of the Church
A nineteenth-century German Lutheran pastor, Loehe worked to enliven the church with the eucharist at its center, from which would flow evangelism and social ministry. He sent pastors to North America, Australia, New Guinea, Brazil, and the Ukraine.

6:30pm
Families and Youth of all ages are invited to spend time together as a church family on the first Tuesday of each month. Confirmation families provide hospitality.  We start at 6:30 pm with a light supper.  After that, adults have a time to talk, catch up and take rest and kids will have a fun activity.
What's Up in the Gym?
Thanks to a generous gift from our Bethlehem friends, our gym renovation project has begun.  We'll have new flooring, new lighting, and new acoustical paneling.  Our new gym will be a blessing to the whole community!  Thank you Bethlehem Lutheran Church!
All the details are here.

"Bell Tree" Update

We would like to thank all of the members of St. John who participated in the 2015 Adopt-a-Family program.

We delivered over 60 gifts to Neighborhood House where "our" family picked them up. In addition, you donated a whopping $650 in Kroger gift cards! We designated $150 worth of these to our family. The other $500 worth will be distributed by Neighborhood House to others who need them. You also donated $225 in utility shut-off money. Even in these difficult financial times, St. John's members have once again shown their caring hearts. Thanks to Patty Oates for once again coordinating this effort and to Patty and Bob Oates for delivering all of our gifts to Neighborhood House.
Begins January 9.
