Upas St Pipeline Replacement Project

You are receiving this email because you are subscribed to receive construction updates on Upas St. Pipeline Replacement Project.

This update is to inform you that a brief water shut-off is necessary as part of the installation of the new water main pipeline being installed in your community.

The next water service interruption will take place Friday, April 29 from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. (overnight).
The water service interruption will affect the following locations:

3100-3599 6th Ave.
500-599 Ivy Ln.
500-699 Upas St.
3500-3599 7th Ave.
500-599 Thorn St.
3241-3255 5th Ave.
  • During the shut-off water service may be sporadic; plan accordingly.
  • Access to homes, businesses and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
  • Construction crews will work as quickly as possible to restore your water service.
  • There may be temporary road closures, traffic rerouting, parking and other access restrictions during the time water service is interrupted.
  • As always, no parking is allowed inside the project work area during work hours. Parking restrictions are marked.
Notice of the water service interruption will be provided by door hangers to the affected addresses.

In addition, The intersection of 7th Avenue and Upas Street will be closed to traffic during this construction task. Additionally, there will be work and traffic control measures as follows:

-The traffic signal at 6th Avenue at Upas will be set to flashing red and southbound lanes on 6th Avenue will be narrowed to a single lane through the work area.
-Northbound lanes will be detoured a few blocks south, at Thorn Street.
-Stop signs will be placed at Thorn Street to allow a controlled left turn for northbound detoured traffic.

The resident engineer will monitor the traffic pattern and flaggers will be assigned at the intersections if traffic begins to back up.

Residents who live at 666 Upas Street (residential tower) will have access to their parking garage via the alley just north of Upas Street. That same alley will be accessible for those who wish to access 7th Avenue as well. Pedestrians will have access to the Marston House and the residences in the area of construction.

Every provision will be taken to quickly and efficiently complete the work. We will do our best to minimize any further inconveniences and we thank you for your understanding.
