HPS Mechanical, Inc. is contracted by the City of San Diego to remove the old and deteriorated water main for this project. Before any pipe can be removed or installed in this area, the City of San Diego requires a detailed archaeological excavation. The excavation is performed by hand using small hand tools. This important task will be handled by RECON, a company that specializes in this work.
- At the July 9th meeting of the La Jolla Shores Association, the board gave overwhelming approval for RECON to begin the excavations on St. Louis Terrace, La Jota Way and Hypatia Way on August 4, 2014.
- This date is within the summer moratorium on construction west of Torrey Pines Road and the LJSA agreed to the work in order to expedite the entire pipeline replacement project once the moratorium ends after Labor Day.
- The excavation work will be every Monday thru Thursday in August from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Work will not take place Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.
- "No Parking" signs will be set up at least 48 hours in advance of the work and we anticipate taking up 3-4 parking spaces per day.
- Traffic control will be set up around the work area.
- There will be noise from the initial saw cutting of the 4 foot by 4 foot area to be hand excavated and a backhoe will be used to uncover/cover each excavation site with a steel plate at the beginning and end of the work day.
Every provision will be taken to quickly and efficiently complete the work. We will do our best to minimize any further inconveniences and we thank you for your understanding.
