Avenida De La Playa Infrastructure Replacement Project &
Sewer and Water Group 809

Dear Stakeholder

You are subscribed to received construction updates on the Avenida De La Playa Infrastructure Replacement Project and Sewer and Water Group Job 809

  • The large crane that has been brought to Avenida De La Playa is being used for the resetting of the culvert boxes. As mentioned last week, the boxes need to be reset 10 inches lower in order to provide proper drainage.
  • Some of the boxes will be hauled offsite until the excavation is completed. The route for the hauling will go down Camino del Oro to Vallecitos.
  • A palm tree on Camino del Oro has been removed to provide room for the crane to operate. A replacement will be planted at this spot when the project is completed.
  • There will be temporary street closures to pedestrians and vehicle traffic during crane operations.
  • Work is continuing to replace the sewer line on the golf course side of Avenida De La Playa.
  • Construction hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
  • As part of its undergrounding of power lines, SDG&E needs to complete a conduit to the La Jolla Shores Hotel. SDG&E says it needs to shut off power for several hours to the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club and La Jolla Shores Hotels in order for that to happen. Management at the hotels asked SDG&E to wait until after Spring Break to do the work. Therefore, the power shutoff will the night of Monday, April 21.  Power will be restored by 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
  • On Tuesday, the top portion of the three power poles will be cut off and removed by SDGE

Thank you to Tim Lucas of the La Jolla Shores Association for presenting much of the information above to the La Jolla Shores community.
  •

A power outage at Constant Contact, the email server used for this update, prevented the issuance of this email on Friday, April 18.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while work progresses on this project. Every provision will be taken to quickly and efficiently complete the work.
