August E-Newsletter 2014

I hope your summer went well!   It is hard to believe that Fall is just around the corner.

Our newsletter this month includes a very special case study in Hamilton! Also, the Empire State Building, along with some other large commercial properties, chose window film to improve their buildings and help with energy savings.  Case Studies included.

What's new in the community?  The Big Move Cancer Ride is coming up! There is still an opportunity to join us in helping out with this worthy cause (more below).

Enjoy, and keep in touch.

Sincerely,

Sam Bellhouse

Going Green with Window Film and Saving Money
When the owners of the Empire State Building decide that window film is a smart decision for their multi million dollar renovation project, it's time to stand up and take notice.

Saving money and 'Going Green'  doesn't always go hand-in-hand, but installing Window Film is one place that commercial property owners find overcomes these odds.  Window film continues to prove a cost-effective solution in saving energy, lowering the carbon footprint of a building, and saving money.  In addition, window film offers the benefits of safety and comfort for occupants.

California Energy Savings Study shows that window film is one of the most cost-effective ways of cutting energy use when upgrading an older building.  In some cases window film can be more effective than what some may consider to be more traditional energy-saving methods, which can include updating the HVAC system, air sealing, caulking, or adding ceiling insulation

Juravinski Hospital (Hamilton)
The gymnasium was experiencing huge heat gain from sun coming in through the curtained wall of south-facing windows.

The initial building specs said they were to receive windows with solar heat control attributes, but  the windows installed did not have this type of protection.  The heat was too much, and the hospital was forced to seek out other options.

A solar control window film could be installed at a reasonable price and would offer the heat control that this area of the hospital needed.
