Missing a Medal?

Did you know?

The 1901 Outer Cove Fisherman Crew almost did not have the opportunity to row that famous race. After being beaten by Torbay in the Fishermen's Race, they wanted a rematch. Up until the last minute, the rematch was not being granted. Torbay finally conceded and Outer Cove beat them, securing a place in the Championship Race - and a record that would last 80 years.

November Edition

Welcome to the November Edition of our newsletter. We will be sending out new editions on the first Wednesday of each month during the offseason. The date just seemed appropriate. If you have any questions or comments concerning anything you read in this newsletter contact us at: [email protected]

Coxswains and Rowers Input Meeting

Representatives from the Regatta Committee, Coxswains and Rowers recently had a meeting to discuss some of the topics that emerged from this years Regatta. The agenda included: equipment being used in boats, scheduling of races, safety, post regatta celebrations, the fall rowing season, and issues with booking boats. There was a great exchange of ideas and we plan to continue these meetings in the future.

Boathouse Erg Room

We are excited to report, progress has been made on having the multi-purpose room at the Boathouse, including the ergs, available this winter to all members. We plan to use a booking system with a small fee charged for each use to cover operating costs. More details to follow!

New Judges Platform

We are currently in the design phase of a new judges platform. The platform will be a permanent structure, and will be home to our new Electronic Timing System (ETS) which will become the official timing system for the 2013 season.

Are you missing your medals from past Regattas?

We have recently been given a large collection of medals from regattas over the past 12 years. We would love to find out who they belong to. They include a large collection of Harbour Grace medals (2001 CFS/Sportshop ladies crew, 2003 and 2005 1st place ladies championship), Placentia (2002 and 2003 4th place ladies championship race, 2005 1st place ladies championship, 2006 2nd place ladies championship), and The Royal St. John's Regatta (2001 District Race, 2005 ladies championship ribbon, 2006 Female Amateur race medal). If you think you own these medals please contact [email protected]
