OSHA's Final Rule to Protect Workers from Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued a final rule to curb lung cancer, silicosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and kidney disease in America's workers by limiting their exposure to respirable crystalline silica. The rule is comprised of two standards, one for Construction and one for General Industry and Maritime.

OSHA estimates that the rule will save over 600 lives and prevent more than 900 new cases of silicosis each year, once its effects are fully realized. The Final Rule is projected to provide net benefits of about $7.7 billion, annually.  Read More...

If your business depends on being in Google's Map Pack and you're not already in the #1 or #2 spot, you're probably still worked up about the Map results going from seven listings down to only three.  So what is a Map Pack? 

Many businesses counted on being featured prominently in the Map Packs because all of their contact info as well as online reputation was there so that buy-minded consumers could make purchase decisions on the fly. When Google stopped showing seven listings, that effectively wiped out about half of the choices for searchers.  Now Google shows three listings only, forcing businesses to pay attention to search engine marketing.  Read More...

My name is Stefanie Lighthall and I am a marketing and business development specialist at Schenck SC.

Born and raised in Two Rivers, I have called Manitowoc County home for most of my life. After graduating from Roncalli High School, I pursued a double major in management and marketing from Concordia University, graduating in 2013. My husband, Brad Lighthall (an Illinois native), and I made the move to Manitowoc County in 2015, and we are thrilled to call it home.

Are you a Business Owner or CEO looking for an outlet to share and discuss business issues in a confidential environment?

The Chamber of Manitowoc County offers a CEO Roundtable Group for Mid-Sized Employers of 25 or more employees. This group provides a structured and confidential environment for you as an executive to share best practices and discuss your business challenges.  The roundtable consists of 10 to 15 executives from Chamber member businesses in Manitowoc County with 25 or more employees. 

A typical meeting could include discussion on an issue such as business planning, marketing, professional development, employees or policies. The next session will feature a brief presentation on overtime regulations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), followed by discussion.  If you are interested in joining the roundtable group for this session, Register Online.
