Every Tuesday, The Chamber of Manitowoc County sends out an email with the subject line "Tuesday Tidbits and Hot Deals". As a Chamber member you are welcome to submit a short message (85 words or less) that we will share with our membership. There is a limit of one per company per week, and Tidbits will be accepted up to two weeks prior to the event/promotion. Tidbits will be published consecutively for a maximum of two weeks. Another great value-added marketing tool available to you at no cost.

 

Please submit weekly messages by Monday at 4:00 p.m. to info@chambermanitowoccounty.org, with "Tuesday Tidbits" in your email subject line.  Emailing your submission to any other email address does not guarantee inclusion.

"What's Happening at The Chamber?" 
The Two Rivers Business Association presents Carp Fest June 8 and 9 in Central Park, Two Rivers.  Food, beverages and free entertainment by Running Blind, Spitfire Rodeo on Saturday and the Charlie Bucket Band on Sunday.  The 2013 Wisconsin Carp Fishing Championship will also be under way throughout spots along the river.  Visit www.trba.info/community-member-events/carp-fest/  for a complete schedule and more information.

A.C.E. Building Service, Inc., headquartered in Manitowoc, has broken ground for a new bell tower at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Two Rivers.  The project is phase three of the parish's building project, following the construction of a new church in 2005 at 3218 Tannery Rd. in Two Rivers and relocation of the Catholic School in 2011 to a new facility at 1322 33rd St. in Two Rivers.  The bell tower, which will be constructed of structural steel and masonry, will stand approximately 63-feet tall, with a cross on top of the structure that will extend to approximately 89 feet.

Manitowoc County Historical Socety (MCHS):  Cheer on the Manitowoc County Amateurs and the Greenbush Dead Citys as they play a baseball game using rules from 1860 at Pinecrest Historical Village, 924 Pinecrest Rd. Manitowoc.  The game will be held on Sunday, June 9, at 1:30 p.m.  With its unkempt field, underhand pitching and no gloves, the scores can be extremely high.  After the game, visitors are encouraged to join the players in practicing the vintage style game.  If you are interested in joining the Manitowoc County Historical Society's team, please contact MCHS at (920) 684-4445.
  

Shady Lane:  Shanna Kubsch is this year's recipient of the Shady Lane Associate Degree in Nursing Scholarship.  As part of Shady Lane's celebration of National Nurses Week, the annual scholarship is awarded to a Lakeshore Technical College student who is in the second half of their two-year nursing program, carries a 3.0 GPA, and has an interest in rehabilitative and geriatric nursing.

Manitowoc Public Library:  Based on real events, the dramatic thriller Argo chronicles the life or death covert operation to rescue six Americans during the Iran hostage crisis of 1979 and 1980. The 2012 Focus Features film will be shown Thursday, June 6, at 6:00 p.m. in the Balkansky Community Room on the second floor of the library at 707 Quay St., Manitowoc.  Refreshments will be served.  A brief discussion will follow the film.

The Rahr-West Art Museum proudly presents "Frank Lloyd Wright, Architecture of the Interior", in the Ruth West Gallery June 19, through August 14, 2013.  Wright is one of Wisconsin's most famous artists and one of the world's best architects.  The exhibit will explore the design of Wright's houses - often considered his greatest architectural accomplishment - through reproduction drawings, photographs and murals.  This is the only exhibit appearance in Wisconsin and just minutes from one of Wright's featured homes in the exhibit:  The Simon Schwartz Home, 'Still Bend" in Two Rivers, WI.  For more information visit www.rahrwestartmuseum.org, or call (920) 686-3090.
