Every Tuesday, The Chamber of Manitowoc County sends out an email with the subject line "Tuesday Tidbits and Hot Deals". As a Chamber member you are welcome to submit a short message (85 words or less) that we will share with our membership. There is a limit of one per company per week, and Tidbits will be accepted up to two weeks prior to the event/promotion. Tidbits will be published consecutively for a maximum of two weeks. Another great value-added marketing tool available to you at no cost.

 

Please submit weekly messages by Monday at 4:00 p.m. to info@chambermanitowoccounty.org, with "Tuesday Tidbits" in your email subject line.  Emailing your submission to any other email address does not guarantee inclusion.

The Friends of Citizen Park Center will be hosting a "Ride for the Rec" fundraising event on Saturday, May 18, from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.  Participants may choose to walk, skate, run or bike with route options of 2.5, 5, 10, 20 and 30 miles along Mariner's Trail.  The cost is $20 for adults (18 and over), $10 for children ages 9 to 17 and no charge for children 8 and under.  Also, save $5 by pre-registering prior to May 13.  T-shirts are also available.  Registration forms are available at The Fitness Store or Rollaire Skate Center, or by visiting our website at www.friendsofcprc.org.

  

Lakeshore Tae Kwon Do:  Five Students of Lakeshore Tae Kwon Do received their 1st Degree Black Belts during the school's Graduation held May 5, 2013, at Lakeshore Cinema Theatre.  The Black Belt Graduation featured special group and individual performances which demonstrated highlights from their April 20 testing. Lincoln Park Zoological Society:  It's a zoo over here!  Master Gardeners will present an Invasive Species talk and weed pull on Saturday, May 18, at 9:00 a.m.  The Memorial Day Summer Kick Off occurs Monday, May 27.  Join us for Wildlife of Wisconsin, honey bee demonstration, animal interaction with the zoo keeper, free animal balloons and the opening of the Big Red Barn, all FREE! 

 

Service League of Manitowoc County will be holding a fish fry this Friday, May 17, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion, 811 Jay Street, Manitowoc.  Proceeds support the Service League of Manitowoc County scholarship fund and the community grant fund.  Items include perch, bluegill, shrimp, and more.  There is something for everyone!  Also, try out the home-made desserts!  Tips received will be donated to the American Legion roof fund.

Holy Family Memorial President and CEO Mark Herzog recently presented at the American College of Healthcare Executive's 2013 Congress on Healthcare Leadership in Chicago.  He was a part of a team who presented "Applying Lean, Six Sigma and Blue Ocean Thinking to your Reform Strategy."  Herzog presented HFM's story of innovation and transformation in preparing for health care reform.

Shady Lane:  Sunday, May 26,  Paul Zeman & the Dix-Z-Cats will open the 4th Annual Laurel Grove Music in the Garden series with tradi-tional Dixieland and popular jazz.  The concert, which is free and open to the public, is from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Gardens of Laurel Grove, 1308 South 22nd Street, Manitowoc. 

The Economic Development Corporation of Manitowoc County in partnership with Lakeshore Technical College will be presenting Business Building Blocks, a FREE one-hour information session on Tuesday, May 28 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.  This session will benefit those who are interested in starting a business.  Attendees will discover the qualities needed to become a successful entrepreneur, determine feasibility of a business idea, understand first steps to take and learn about local resources that can help.  While there is no cost for this event, pre-registration is required to Melissa at (920) 482-0540 or email Melissa@edcmc.org .

American Red Cross:  Now in its sixth year, more than 100 participating eateries will participate in Dine for Disaster throughout Eastern Wisconsin, from the Illinois border, to Upper Peninsula Michigan communities.  On Thursday, May 16, 2013, participants will donate a portion of sales to benefit their local American Red Cross disaster relief and community disaster prevention and education.  Visit www.redcross.org/dinefordisasterwisconsin for a complete listing of participating restaurants.

 

Manitowoc County Habitat for Humanity:  You are invited to attend the Manitowoc County Habitat for Humanity Tools and Treasures fundraising event on May 18, at The Club.  Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for cocktail hour and bidding starts at 7:00 p.m.  Come early to browse our collection of tools and treasures (beautiful one of kind creations from local artists and generous tool suppliers).  Tickets for the event are $20 per person/$35 per couple or may be purchased in advance at:  Manitowoc County Habitat for Humanity, 502 North 8th Street, Manitowoc.
