As we continue our joyous holiday season, we hope those of you who have celebrated holidays enjoyed them, and we hope all of you looking forward to holidays will enjoy them. As we anticipate the New Year, we strongly urge you to look at a few things that might apply to your technology and tax situations.
If you still rely on the Microsoft XP operating system, we hate to be a Grinch, but... As you know, Microsoft will no longer support it, and you'll be exposed to a lot of risk - which we will discuss in this newsletter.
On the other hand, you can give yourself a present by upgrading your technology before Jan. 1, 2014. Depending on your tax situation, you should be able to qualify for tax deductions that could lower your tax bill and keep your technology systems humming smoothly well before you file your Form 1040.
And, there's one more bit of good news. Microsoft has rescinded its Oct. 30, 2014 cutoff for allowing its manufacturing partners to pre-load Windows 7 on new computers, and, we've seen reports that Microsoft will continue to provide security fixes for Windows 7 until Jan. 14, 2020.
All of this gives us the delightful opportunity to wish you happiness for the holidays and afterward.
