My name is Gerry Walker and as you may be aware Dr. Senator Paul Bussman has sponsored Senate Bill 253 in our state legislature titled Patient Choice. This bill will require Blue Cross to pay the same patient covered reimbursement to the non Blue Cross provider that they pay to the Blue Cross preferred provider, and of course BCBS is opposed.
The passage of this bill could be a major step in breaking the stranglehold BCBS has on the dental providers and the indentured servitude we have succumbed to with BCBS. For this to pass it will take everyone of us to call/email our Senators/Legislators and voice our support of this bill. It is now in the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee chaired by Senator Slade Blackwell. If it fails to clear this committee and is relegated to a sub committee, then it is dead.
Dr. Senator Bussman has taken the lead and presented this bill, and now it up to us to step up to the plate. Please call/email the members of the Banking and Insurance Committee listed below, and the legislators that represent you in your respective districts. This will be a battle but with all of us teaming together we CAN win.
This is special appeal to whomever knows Senator Blackwell and his family to make the call and ask him to move SB235 out of committee with approval.
