Greetings!

Below is Dr. Rocklin Alling's eulogy for Dr. John Orr.  John was my wife's Dr. and I too became friends with he and Susie.  He will be missed....Richard Morgan

Johnny Orr is finally at rest-on a cold winter's night at the beginning of a new year. Yes, he is at peace after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.  As throughout his life,  whether it be on the golf course, at the lake, in the woods, sitting in  the Alabama stands or dealing with life's challenges,  Johnny competed valiantly, with great passion and much success.  And, the end came too soon.
When we think of Johnny we remember the infectious smile, constant chuckle and a kind but often rapier wit. We also think of his  pure dental heritage that the Orr family has come to mean-for  literally,  generations.  He was the third generation dentist practicing primarily in the Fairfield area-a proud tradition and testimony to service to others.
Johnny was only 58 but lived a full rich live-not only making dental and real smiles, but enjoying the various avenues of life's adventures -- but, most importantly, loving and enjoying his family.  His 34 year marriage to the love of his life, Susie,  produced three wonderful children that any parent would be proud.  His oldest daughter, Elizabeth is married and is the art director of a magazine in Nashville, while middle daughter Mary looks forward to a career in pediatrics after she graduates from UAB Medical School.  And, John Robert,  imbued with the Orr Dental DNA, hopes to enter dental school.
Yes, life is too short for all of us, especially Johnny.  We pause offering up prayers for this family while we remember Johnny's laugh, smile and legacy.  A legacy of unconditional love for friends and family.
May God Bless the Memory of Johnny Orr.
