Barbara Haskell is a curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art and a well-known scholar on American modern art. In this lecture, she will discuss the works of Robert Indiana, creator of one of the iconic images of twentieth-century pop art, LOVE, and examine the the evolution of Robert Indiana's themes.
Relax and Take 5! with free, live jazz in the Kogod Courtyard. In this concert, the Toni Martucci Quintent plays original jazz influenced by Afro-Latin rhythms in conjunction with the exhibition "Our America: The Latino Presence in American Art." In addition, unleash your inner artist with a free printmaking activity!
Landscapes and Containers: A Conversation
Thursday, November 21, 7 p.m.
Senior curator Eleanor Harvey explores the western American landscape and its relationship to Wayne Higby's ceramic vessels with ceramicist Wayne Higby and Henry Sayre, professor of art history at Oregon State University. Together they create a dialogue between Higby's 21st-century containers and the 19th-century painters of America's frontier.
