Smithsonian American Art Museum

We sent a short survey in June to find out more about your email preferences. More than 500 people participated - thank you to everyone who responded! Here's what we learned and what we're doing about it:
  • The content that people are most interested in hearing about is programs and exhibitions at the museum. We will continue to send regular emails about upcoming programs and events. We will still send emails about other types of content, but will do so less frequently.
  • Many people do not know that they can filter their email content by selecting different categories. After you have signed up once, you can re-enter your email address on our website at any time to select the categories that you are interested in (no password required!). We will only send you emails that contain information about the categories you select. Visit americanart.si.edu/visit/enews/ to view and edit your preferences.
  • People would prefer to receive fewer emails overall. Previously, we were sending around 8-12 emails per month (that's a lot, we know!). Now, we will send 4-6 emails per month. Note: only people signed up for "all categories" will receive all emails. If you have selected specific categories, you will receive fewer emails than this.

If you are one of the people who wanted to hear from us more often, please follow the museum on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Tumblr where we post at least once every day.

Thanks!
