Smithsonian American Art Museum

Are you planning a trip to the Smithsonian American Art Museum this summer, or simply have a fond memory of a past visit? If so, submit your fun family snapshots to the Smithsonian's new America's Family Album site! Old and new photos are welcome. Just select your photo, upload it, and tag it with information about your home state and where the photo was taken. It's easy!

Not only will you be entered to win a Smithsonian Journeys cruise, and may have your snapshot featured in a 2014 Smithsonian photography exhibit, it is a great way to support the museums as well. For every picture uploaded, the Ford Motor Company will donate $5 to the Smithsonian, up to $50,000. If you don't have any photos from a visit to the Smithsonian American Art Museum, there's no better time to come and take a few! Be sure to visit our two upcoming photography exhibitions, A Democracy of Images (open now) and Landscapes in Passing (opens July 26), to get some inspiration.

There are plenty of places for photo ops at the Smithsonian American Art Museum this summer. Our beautiful outdoor sculpture by Luis Jimnez is looking great, thanks to recent cleaning. The Kogod Courtyard, with its natural lighting and contemporary architecture, is also a good spot to commemorate a family trip. Or explore the Luce Foundation Center, where more than 3,000 artworks are on display in cases amidst elegant High Victorian decor. So take some time to visit the museum this summer, and be sure to take a picture too!

Hope to see you soon!
