February may be the shortest month of the year, but you'd never know it by looking at the number of public programs the Luce Foundation Center team has planned for you. Here are a few of the ones we're especially excited about, but please check out the online calendar for more details about these and other February programs in the Luce Center.

We kick things off 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 3 with a rare plugged-in performance at Luce Unplugged. Local progressive instrumentalist Collin Crowe will play his original music after a staff-led art talk. Free coffee and tea will be available during the performance, so come early to make sure you get a good seat.

Get in the mood for Valentine's Day with artist Becca Kallem on Sunday, February 10.  She'll talk about the eye miniatures in our collection at 1:30 p.m., then guide participants in making their own miniature.  Score points with your sweetie and give him or her this one-of-a-kind gift; or, even better, bring him or her along to share this experience. As an extra treat, mention Mrs. Fitzherbert at the cash bar to receive a special offer with your purchase.

Looking for another unique date idea? You can attend an installment of our popular Drawing at Dusk! series on Friday, February 15 at 5:30 p.m. Guess instructor Laura Boilini will lead a mini-lesson before sending you to sketch from the artworks stored in the Luce Center. Our Flickr page features drawings from previous participants, but don't be intimidated! The program is open to all ages and skill levels.

We close out the month with a talk from our Local Artist series on
Saturday, February 23. Jimmy Miracle will talk about artworks on view in the Center and how they relate to his own at 1:30 p.m. Sip a complimentary coffee or tea as you contemplate Miracle's materials and process. This talk is presented in collaboration with CulturalDC's Flashpoint Gallery.

Hope you can make it to at least one event!
